The Strongest Battlegrounds Hero Hunter (Garou)

Free high-ceiling fighter with Monster and Cosmic form pressure.

Last updated:

Hero Hunter

Hero Hunter is the free high-ceiling partner to The Strongest Hero in The Strongest Battlegrounds. Inspired by Garou’s fantasy, the kit sits in S tier for the August 2026 meta when Monster and Cosmic forms are part of your plan. Equal stats still rule: shared HP, M1 chains, wall combos after the fourth hit, and awakening with G. Form tools expand pressure—they do not give you a larger health bar.

Unlock status

Free unlock for the base Hero Hunter identity. Forms (Monster / Cosmic) are part of the kit’s fantasy when available in the live build—confirm visuals and toggles in-game via Official Links. This is not Early Access like Undying Hero and not a PS+ exclusive like Sorcerer. Access contrast: Exclusive Characters. Full cast map: Full Roster.

Why Hunter is S tier

Compared with many A and B kits, Hunter rewards players who already understand shared fundamentals from Getting Started. Form changes add mix and conversion paths that punish opponents who only labbed base moves. That ceiling is why PvP Meta Tier List keeps Hunter next to Strongest Hero for free players—and why beginners should still start on Hero if forms feel overwhelming (Beginner Picks).

Shared systems you must own

Hunter does not skip the universal layer:

Forms amplify good habits; they do not salvage mashed neutrals.

Monster and Cosmic forms — how to think about them

Treat forms as mode changes mid-round, not costume swaps. When a form alters speed, reach, or skill identity:

  1. Announce the change to yourself—do not autopilot the previous string.
  2. Re-check wall spacing; some modes want different fourth-hit distances.
  3. Track meter and awakening separately so you do not dump G into a bad window.
  4. In 3v3 Elo after Cosmic, coordinate with teammates so form pressure collapses a target—see Cosmic Update and How to Play Ranked.

If Character Creator lets you mash ult flavors onto other bases, do not assume the result equals stock Hunter S-tier—read Character Creator.

Matchup mindset

  • Vs Strongest Hero: respect awakening identity and wall discipline; Hero is the other free S benchmark—The Strongest Hero.
  • Vs Sorcerer: exclusive tools demand tighter defense; label access honestly.
  • Vs Destructive Cyborg / Blade Master: punish greedy skill links after blocked M1s—Destructive Cyborg, Blade Master.
  • Vs Brutal Demon / Deadly Ninja: force them to overcommit; your form tools should create resets, not coin-flip mashes.
  • Vs Wild Psychic: C-tier consistency on average does not mean free rounds—still block and dash correctly.

Lab plan for Hunter mains

Week one without forms panic: M1, dashes, walls, block. Week two: add one form route and one awakening convert. Week three: one-shot experiments from One-Shot Combos only if confirms are stable. Week four: ranked sets with defense notes from Burst Guide for pileups.

Hero Hunter rewards study. If you want the easiest climb, stay on Strongest Hero longer. If you want free S-tier expression with form tech, Hunter is the long-term project—execute the shared layer first.

Form checklist mid-round

Ask three questions every life: Which form tools are ready? Is a wall behind them? Is Burst or a teammate about to steal the kill window? If you cannot answer, reset neutral instead of forcing a highlight. Hunter looks unstoppable in clips because the player already answered those questions silently while still respecting equal-stats defense.

Duo and trio habits

In 3v3 Elo after Cosmic, call when you commit a form swing so teammates do not stack the same target into Burst. Peel for a teammate who already landed a wall rather than starting a second unconfirmed string across the map. Cosmic-era ranked rewards hunters who play pack tactics. Pair this with How to Play Ranked and Burst Guide until teamwork stops feeling optional.
